The picture above shows where engraved bricks have been placed around a Flag Pole and replica of a 2# medium brick of Tillamook Cheese at the front of the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. In 1998 the Tillamook County Fair Board was given a metal flag pole by the Oregon National Guard that had been removed from its Armory when it was permanently closed in Tillamook. This flag pole replaced a smaller wooden flag pole that had to be replaced. The Fair Board decided to create an area surrounding the flag pole where they could sell engraved bricks. The Tillamook County Creamery Association replaced an old oval block of cheese with a replica of their signature 2# medium brick of cheese to enhance the Flag Pole Renovation Project.
To date, the Fair Board has sold 1,128 bricks. People have purchased these bricks to commemorate birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and newborn children and grandchildren. People have also purchased bricks in memory of a loved one and for many other reasons that are uniquely special to them. The Flag Pole Renovation Project will hold 1,231 bricks.
The bricks are 3 ½" X 7 ½" and will hold up to three lines of text with up to twelve letters, numbers and spaces per line. The cost per brick is $40.00. These bricks make a good present for any occasion. A certificate of ownership is given for each brick. You can purchase a brick by downloading the form found here and mailing it in or dropping it off at the Fair Office. You can call the Fair Office at 503-842-2272 if you have any questions or concerns.
